Jakarta, January 24, 2024 - The furniture and craft industry is still one of Indonesia's creative industries that contributes significant export value. Unfortunately, the furniture and handicraft industry is facing challenges due to the weakening of the Indonesian furniture export market in 2023. Data on furniture and handicraft exports in the third quarter of 2023 only reached US$ 1.8 billion down from 2022 which recorded US$ 2.5 billion with an accumulated decline of 28 percent in one year. This is due to the geopolitical and inflationary conditions that are hitting the global market.
Nevertheless, the Indonesian Furniture and Handicraft Industry Association (HIMKI) remains optimistic that the furniture and handicraft industry will grow this year. One of them is through the largest furniture and craft exhibition in Indonesia, Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX). IFEX will be held again on February 29 to March 3, 2024 at JIExpo, Kemayoran by cooperating with Dyandra Promosindo.
With a wider exhibition scope, IFEX is present to encourage local producers to showcase and market various furniture and handicraft products with unique characteristics and illustrate Indonesian cultivation. As a platform for local producers to showcase their products in the global market, IFEX is ready to be the solution to increase export value in 2024.
In its ninth edition, IFEX is themed R.E.A.L, which stands for Reflection on Culture, Experiencing the Comfort, Adapting to Sustainability, and Leading the Innovation. IFEX will showcase Indonesian furniture, handicrafts, design, and art inspired by the beauty of Indonesia's natural resources and international standards.
The exhibition will present more than 500 exhibiting companies, including companies that have adapted to sustainability, and showcase more than 1000 products from various parts of the world with a variety of raw materials such as wood, rattan, bamboo, leather, fabrics, art and craft, and pottery. This year IFEX also uses the entire hall at JIExpo Kemayoran to the Gambir Expo area with a total area of 65,000 square meters as a form of commitment to present diverse and quality goods.
HIMKI Chairman, Abdul Sobur said "Although global market competition continues to increase, we believe the future of the furniture and craft industry in Indonesia can grow. Local products have the advantage of raw materials from natural resources in Indonesia, creative and authentic designs, and sustainable production. The presence of IFEX this year makes it easy for local producers to connect directly with buyers from around the world."
IFEX 2024 Facilities and Programs
Not only presenting a variety of Indonesian furniture and handicraft products, IFEX 2024 also provides typical Indonesian hospitality by presenting IFEX Buyers & Exhibition Nite as a networking event between exhibitors and buyers. IFEX Seminar is also presented to educate visitors, exhibitors, and related stakeholders. In addition, as a form of appreciation for exhibitors, IFEX has a Best Booth Awarding program for selected exhibitors.
Dyandra Promosindo as the organizer of IFEX is preparing supporting facilities for buyers who will attend. This was conveyed by the President Director of Dyandra Promosindo, Daswar Marpaung.
