History of HIMKI

Weaving Unity, Strengthening National Industry

The Indonesian Furniture and Craft Industry Association (HIMKI) is a concrete manifestation of the spirit of unity in the national furniture and craft industry. Established as a merger of two major associations, the Indonesian Furniture and Craft Industry Association (ASMINDO) and the Indonesian Furniture and Craft Association (AMKRI), HIMKI was born to become a more solid and powerful organization. Here's a timeline of its historic journey:

April 20, 2016

It all started with a good intention to unite. At the Aryaduta Hotel, Jakarta, witnessed by the administrators and founders of AMKRI and ASMINDO, as well as the merger mandate holders, Mr. Supriyadi and Mr. Mugiyanto, AMKRI Chairman Ir. Rudi Halim and ASMINDO Chairman Taufik Gani signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to unite the two associations. This moment marked a historic milestone for the national furniture and craft industry.

The merger process continues. The National Ad Hoc Team, consisting of furniture and craft industry representatives from AMKRI and ASMINDO, met at the Edge Hotel in Semarang. After lengthy discussions, they unanimously agreed to form a new, stronger organization, the Indonesian Furniture and Craft Industry Association (HIMKI).

May 31, 2016

A new milestone was officially established with the holding of the First National Conference (MUNAS) of HIMKI at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Kemayoran, Jakarta. This event was attended by national furniture and craft industry players from the former AMKRI and former ASMINDO. At this moment, former AMKRI Chairman Ir. Rudi Halim and former ASMINDO Chairman Taufik Gani symbolically handed over the documents disbanding their association to the elected HIMKI Chairman, Ir. Soenoto, and Secretary General, Hari Basuki.

The culmination of this entire journey was recognition from the government. In the Garuda Room of the Indonesian Ministry of Industry Building, the Central Executive Board (DPP) and Regional Executive Board (DPD) of HIMKI were officially inaugurated. On the same day, at the State Palace, the President of the Republic of Indonesia granted his blessing for the establishment of the Indonesian Furniture and Craft Industry Association (HIMKI), signaling the government's full support for the association.

Through this long journey, HIMKI has proven that with a spirit of collaboration, the Indonesian furniture and crafts industry can unite to achieve greater goals. This merger not only creates a new association but also strengthens the industry's position on the national and global stage, ensuring HIMKI continues to contribute to the nation's economic progress.
